I am going to be sad to see most of the buildings that I grew up with... all gone. As bad as this is, MSDAA should fight. Not to get campus back, no. But fight to get Deaf community and Deaf Space architects INVOLVED in designing the new MSD campus and buildings. Do NOT allow hearing people make all the decisions that affect Deaf and our unique language and culture. You mentioned Auditorium and cafeteria would be combined. I would be opposed to this. Why? We need the inclined floor plan or stadium style seating to provide much better visibility to the stage. Flat floor means a lot of heads in the way. This is one example. Also, people at Gallaudet has done a lot of study and thinking on Deaf Space architecture. Contact them and get them involved so the new MSD buildings can be truly Deaf-centered and fully accessible.
